About

I have 18 years of experience in website design and development, including 8 years branding and promoting companies internationally for a USAID-funded trade project. As a result I'm equally at home developing a cutting-edge website, as designing eye-catching branding for your next promotional campaign.

My design philosophy

I believe that function leads form: that good design is founded on a purpose, and is not artistic expression. Every design element I include plays a part in communicating to the audience. I am not an artist, but a designer. This doesn't mean designs needs to be boring, as one of the functions of design is very often attracting attention and drawing interest.

I put on my analytical hat during the planning and preparation stage of a project, and only bring out my creative hat once the brief is set and the parameters are clear. For every project I always strive to see the forest and not just the trees, which means I keep an eye focused on an effective end result—this is ultimately all that matters.

My approach to work

I am intrinsically-motivated to produce effective, high-quality results. My work satisfaction is derived from projects with successful outcomes. I am organised and excel in delivering high quality results that meet tight deadlines.

Remote work can be a dislocated experience, but it doesn't have to be. I understand how important responsiveness is, and so my clients always receive prompt replies and progress reports.

More about me

I'm from the UK, but now live in alternatingly frigid and sweltering Ottawa, Canada. At least the sun seems to come out more often than on the other side of the ocean. I have lived in 10 countries on 5 continents and enjoy experiencing new cultures. I love sports and being in the great outdoors, although if I'm honest, I miss some mod-cons when camping...
